Yards After Catch (YAC)
Yards gained by a receiver after catching the ball, before being tackled.
Full Definition
Yards After Catch measures the distance a receiver covers after making the catch. High YAC indicates a player who creates yardage through open-field running, broken tackles, or schemed touches (screens, slants). For receiving yards props, YAC matters because two receivers with the same target share can have very different yards outputs based on their YAC ability. Slot receivers and running backs typically generate more YAC than outside deep threats.
What's a good Yards After Catch?
YAC/reception above 6.0 is elite, 4.5-6.0 is above average, 3.0-4.5 is average, below 3.0 is low.
