Rush Yards Over Expected (RYOE)
Yards gained on a rush compared to what was expected given the blocking and defensive alignment.
Full Definition
Rush Yards Over Expected separates a running back's contribution from their offensive line's blocking. Using tracking data, RYOE calculates how many yards a typical RB would have gained on the same play given the blocking lanes and defensive positions, then compares the actual result. Positive RYOE means the back is creating yards on their own. For rushing props, RYOE is more predictive than raw rushing yards because it isolates the player's talent from their situation.
