Red Zone Rate
How often a team reaches the red zone (inside the 20-yard line) and converts for touchdowns.
Full Definition
Red Zone Rate has two components: red zone trip rate (how often a team's drives reach the opponent's 20-yard line) and red zone scoring rate (what percentage of red zone trips result in touchdowns vs. field goals). For touchdown props, the red zone is where TDs happen, so knowing a team's red zone efficiency and their opponent's red zone defense is critical. Players with high red zone target shares or rushing attempts inside the 20 are the best TD prop targets.
What's a good Red Zone Rate?
TD conversion above 60% is elite, 55-60% is above average, 50-55% is average, below 50% is poor.
