Offensive Rating (ORtg)

Points scored per 100 possessions. Measures offensive efficiency independent of pace.

Full Definition

Offensive Rating calculates points scored per 100 possessions, normalizing for pace differences between teams. This makes it the best way to compare team offenses since a team that scores 120 points at a fast pace isn't necessarily better than one scoring 105 at a slow pace. For player props, team ORtg indicates the overall scoring environment — players on high-ORtg teams play in offenses that create better shots and more efficient scoring opportunities.

What's a good Offensive Rating?

Above 115 is elite offense, 112-115 is above average, 108-112 is average, below 105 is poor.
