NRFI (No Run First Inning)
A bet that neither team will score in the first inning of a baseball game.
Full Definition
NRFI stands for 'No Run First Inning' and is one of the most popular MLB prop markets. An NRFI bet wins when both teams go scoreless in the first inning. The opposite — YRFI (Yes Run First Inning) — wins if either team scores. Historically, about 72-75% of MLB first innings are scoreless. Successful NRFI betting requires evaluating both starting pitchers' first-inning ERA, WHIP, and K rates, plus the opposing lineups and weather conditions.
What's a good NRFI?
Look for both pitchers with first-inning ERA below 3.00 and WHIP below 1.20 for strongest NRFI plays.
