Isolated Power (ISO)
Slugging minus batting average. Measures raw extra-base hit power.
Full Definition
Isolated Power (ISO) strips singles out of slugging percentage to measure only extra-base hit power. The formula is SLG minus AVG. A player with a .280 AVG and .520 SLG has a .240 ISO, meaning their extra-base hits contribute .240 of their slugging. ISO is the purest measure of power output and is particularly useful for home run and total bases props — high-ISO hitters generate extra-base hits at a higher rate regardless of their batting average.
What's a good Isolated Power?
Above .250 is elite power, .180-.250 is above average, .130-.180 is average, below .100 is no power.
