Hard Hit Rate (Hard Hit%)

Percentage of batted balls with exit velocity of 95+ mph.

Full Definition

Hard Hit Rate measures the percentage of a batter's balls in play that leave the bat at 95 mph or harder. Unlike Barrel Rate, Hard Hit% doesn't consider launch angle — it captures all hard contact, including grounders. High Hard Hit% indicates underlying bat speed and strength that sustains over time. It's a broader measure of contact quality and helps confirm whether a hitter's power is real and sustainable.

What's a good Hard Hit Rate?

Above 50% is elite, 40-50% is above average, 30-40% is average, below 30% is soft contact.
