Box Plus/Minus (BPM)
A box score estimate of a player's contribution in points above average per 100 possessions.
Full Definition
Box Plus/Minus is a box score-based metric that estimates a player's contribution to the team in points above league average per 100 possessions. It uses a player's box score stats (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers) along with team performance and position adjustments. BPM is useful for identifying high-impact players who contribute across multiple stat categories, making it relevant for combo props (PRA, points + rebounds, etc.).
What's a good Box Plus/Minus?
Above +6.0 is MVP level, +3.0 to +6.0 is All-Star, 0 to +3.0 is above average, below -2.0 is below average.
