Air Yards

The distance a pass travels through the air to a receiver, before any yards after the catch.

Full Definition

Air Yards measure the depth of a target — how far the ball travels past the line of scrimmage before reaching the receiver. High air yards indicate a player is running deeper routes and being used as a downfield threat. Average Depth of Target (ADOT) is air yards per target. For receiving yards props, players with high ADOT have higher ceilings per reception but more variance, while short-ADOT players are safer but lower-ceiling. Air Yards share shows who is the team's primary downfield threat.

What's a good Air Yards?

ADOT above 12 yards is a deep threat, 8-12 is intermediate, below 8 is a short/underneath receiver.
