Worth flagging: 1 of 5 on first baskets recently. Treat this as a regression to mean play, not a heater. Brandon is my first basket lean tonight. ## Pick 2: Luka Doncic, LAL at GSW *17.5% FB rate · 28.6% first shot · 66.3% tip win · L10 N/A · DvP 8th vs Gs* Tipoff and first shot usage are the two factors most casual bettors ignore. LAL wins the tip at 66.3%, Luka fires the opening shot 28.6% of the time, and the math turns into a 17.5% first basket conversion. GSW ranks 8th in points surrendered to Gs (26.1 PPG), which softens the opening possession look. Luka is my first basket lean tonight. > **Want the full board?** See all of today's plays on [Top Plays](/top-plays), or dive deeper on the [First Basket dashboard](/nba/first-basket). ## Pick 3: Lauri Markkanen, DEN at UTH *19.5% FB rate · 12.2% first shot · 56.1% tip win · L10 N/A · DvP 9th vs Fs* 8 first baskets in 41 starts is a 19.5% rate, the kind of stable signal that rewards repetition. DEN ranks 9th in points surrendered to Fs (23.9 PPG), which softens the opening possession look. Lauri is my first basket lean tonight. ## Honorable Mentions - **Draymond Green** (GSW): LAL surrenders the 2nd most points to Fs. - **Nikola Jokic** (DEN): UTH surrenders the 5th most points to Cs. - **Michael Porter Jr.** (BKN): season FB rate of 19.2%. - **Jaylin Williams** (OKC): NOR surrenders the 7th most points to Cs. Draymond Green was close, 13.4% first basket rate is legit, but GSW's tipoff rate (46.3%) limits first possession opportunities. ## Related Guides - [First Basket Betting Guide](/blog/nba-first-basket-betting-guide) - [NBA DVP Matchups Explained](/blog/nba-dvp-matchups-explained) - [NBA Dashboard Quickstart](/blog/nba-dashboard-quickstart-for-beginners) ## Before You Lock Confirm lineups on the [First Basket dashboard](/nba/first-basket); starters can change up to 2 hours before tip.
