Most bettors spend their pre-game research bouncing between six websites, scrolling Twitter for tips, and cross-referencing box scores in a dozen tabs. Forty-five minutes later, they're no more confident than when they started.

The problem isn't a lack of information. It's that the information is scattered and mostly noise. Here's a five-step workflow that takes 15 minutes and produces a focused, data-backed card.

## Step 1: Check Who's Hot (3 min)

**Dashboard:** [Streaks](/nba/streaks)

Sort by streak length. You're looking for players who've cleared a specific threshold in 5+ consecutive games — especially when that threshold is at or above where the book sets the line.

If a player has scored 24+ in eight straight and his line is 22.5, that's a strong over candidate. Write down 3-5 names.

For MLB: [MLB Streaks](/mlb/streaks). For NFL: [NFL Streaks](/nfl/streaks).

## Step 2: Check the Matchup (3 min)

**Dashboard:** [Defense vs. Position](/nba/defense-vs-position)

For each game on tonight's slate, check which positions the opposing defense is weakest against. A team giving up 28.3 PPG to shooting guards (bottom five in the league) makes any SG facing them tonight a matchup play.

The best candidates are players from Step 1 who also have a favorable DVP matchup. Hot streak + weak defense = your strongest combination.

For NFL: [NFL DVP](/nfl/defense-vs-position). For MLB, pitcher matchups run through the [Prop Analyzer](/check) directly.

## Step 3: Run the Prop Analyzer (5 min)

**Dashboard:** [Prop Analyzer](/check)

Take your top candidates and run their likely props. Enter the player, stat, and the book's line. The engine scores it across all convergence factors and returns a score.

- **7+ convergence:** Top of your card.
- **5-6:** Secondary play, smaller position.
- **Below 5:** Move on.

## Step 4: Check Injuries (2 min)

Two things to confirm:

1. Your target players are active with no minutes restrictions.
2. No teammate injuries changed the usage picture since the data was generated.

A player on a 10-game streak with perfect convergence becomes a zero if he's scratched 30 minutes before tip. Two minutes of checking saves you from the most common avoidable loss.

## Step 5: Build Your Card (2 min)

From the props that survived all four steps, pick 3-5 plays and size by conviction:

- **8-9 convergence:** Lead play. Largest unit.
- **7:** Strong play. Standard unit.
- **5-6:** Half unit at most.

More than five plays per night and you're diluting your edge. Discipline here is what separates profitable bettors from recreational ones.

## By Sport

The five-step structure works across all three sports. Only the dashboards change:

**MLB:** Streaks → Pitcher matchup via Prop Analyzer → Convergence score → Lineup confirmations → Card.

**NFL:** Streaks → DVP → Convergence score → Practice reports + weather → Card.

The principle is universal: find consistency, confirm the matchup, validate with convergence, check for disruptions, size by conviction.

## Why This Beats Googling

The old process: ESPN box scores → Google "player X vs team Y" → Twitter injury scroll → three stat sites for matchup data → place bet based on vibes. Time: 45-90 minutes. Confidence: moderate.

This workflow: Streaks (3 min) → DVP (3 min) → Prop Analyzer (5 min) → Injuries (2 min) → Card (2 min). Time: 15 minutes. Every step has a specific output.

Run it consistently and you'll start recognizing patterns faster. The workflow gives you structure. Repetition gives you the edge.
